About Jim
I was three years old, in a yard that seemed enormous, hitting a ball with a big red bat while my father pitched, when I found the only thing I've ever wanted to do. I've never stopped.
I played baseball at the University of Tampa, chasing a big-league career, and studied exercise science there. Since then I've worked in strength and conditioning with the Toronto Blue Jays, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of South Florida, and with professional boxers, and I've coached players at every age and level, from tee-ball to the pros, for more than twenty-five years.
I hold the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and I studied chiropractic in Connecticut.
I'm the co-founder and Chief of Human Performance at Functionised, a human-performance company in New Jersey. I directed the 2024 documentary The Keto Project, available on Prime Video. I live in New Jersey with my wife and our three children, and my son plays the game too.
My next book, Baseball Player's Guide to the Winning Way, is the book I wish someone had handed me at twelve. There's always a game tomorrow, and I intend to be there.
